Welcome to Waltham Girls Youth Basketball!!
Whether you are a basketball guru or someone new to the sport, we have a spot for you! Basketball is the greatest way to make friends, stay healthy, compete, and be a part of a team! The Waltham Girls Youth Basketball League houses grades 1st-8th at both intown and travel levels.
We are broken down into 3 tiers:
Elementary Division for 1st-3rd graders participate on Saturday morning skills, drills and fun! There are 2 sessions, 9-10:10 and 10:15-11:30. Run by Coach Stacey Noel the girls will learn the fundamentals of basketball with a focus on skills and build up to small game play.
Junior Divisions are divided up as 4th-5th graders and then 6th-8th graders. At both tiers girls are divided up into separate teams. Teams have the opportunity to practice together throughout the month of December and game play starts Saturdays in January-March. At both levels the top 4 teams qualify for a playoff to be held at the end of the season. In addition to their Saturday practice/game schedule, girls are invited to Wednesday night skill sessions with Coach Stacey Meehan to improve their individual ability.
Travel Division sparks the interest of girls looking for further competition. Travel players commit to both intown and travel teams without conflict of each other. Travel teams practice once a week as a team and participate in Wednesday night skill sessions. Travel teams start as early as November for practices with games starting the first weekend of December through the end of February. Waltham Girls Basketball is part of the MetroWest Travel Basketball league playing against teams in the area. We are looking to for grade level teams for girls in 4th-8th grade. **TRAVEL REGISTRATION DEADLINE SEPTEMBER 30**
The goal of Waltham Girls Youth Basketball is to provide girls with opportunities to experience sports, teammates and fun. All are welcome!
