Welcome to the Jewish Learning Collaborative of Metrowest, a joint religious school program of Temple Beth Sholom of Framingham and Congregation Or Atid of Wayland. This program is open to all students (regardless of synagogue membership or affiliation) who want to spend quality time with other Jewish children in the Metrowest area.

Our program prides itself on having quality teachers who provide a warm and nurturing child-centered learning environment. In our school, all our students and teachers know each other and enjoy studying and playing together in both small grade groupings and as a larger school community.

Our goal is for each of our students to develop a strong Jewish identity and comfort level with Jewish practice, a knowledge and love of self that ultimately leads to a desire to explore and nurture a lifelong relationship to Judaism.  

Open to all children, regardless of synagogue membership or affiliation, for PreK through 8th grade.  Tuition for affiliated families reflects a discounted rate.

* The first year registration is free for new families with students in PK-2.

The JLCMW will meet from September 16, 2020-May 16, 2021. A full calendar will be available closer to the fall. Classes will meet online until further notice.

Grade PK-1 meets Sundays 9:30-11:00

Grades 2-5 meet Sundays 9:30-11:00 and Wednesdays 4:00-5:15

Grade 6 meets Sundays 9:30-11:00 and Wednesdays 4:00-5:15 (with grades 7 and 8)

Grades 7-8 meet Wednesdays 4:00-5:15

Participant Information

In this section, please provide us with information on your child or children (registrant). For Nickname, please provide us with your child's Hebrew name. For grade, please provide information for 2020-2021. Please be sure to put your child's name as the participant (not yours) and select grade they will be in the Fall of 2020.


For each of the agreements below, please read the terms, check the box to mark your acknowledgement, and type your name to confirm.

Medical Agreement

I do hereby authorize and consent to any x-ray examination, anesthetic, medical or surgical diagnosis and treatment and emergency hospital care which is deemed advisable by and is to be rendered under the general or special supervision of any member of the medical staff and emergency room staff licensed under the provisions of the Medicine Practice Act and on the staff of any acute general hospital holding a current license to operate a hospital from the State of Massachusetts Department of Public Health. It is understood that effort shall be made to contact me prior to rending treatment to the patient, but that any of the above treatment will not be withheld if I cannot be reached.

Snack Policy

Our snack policy invites your child to bring a small snack to class on Sundays and Wednesdays. This may consist of water, uncut fruit (such as an apple or banana), or an unopened, certified kosher, totally nut-free other snack item (such as a small bag of chips). The kashruth symbol must be an OU, KVH, StarK, or other acceptable symbol. If you have a question about the kashruth of a food item, please contact the Rabbi or one of the Directors. Teachers will check food items brought in to class. Snack is optional and those students who bring one in will have a few minutes to eat it during the short mid-class break. We encourage you to provide your child with a hearty snack before he or she comes to school.

Behavior Expectations

The students, teachers, staff, and parents all contribute to the success and smooth functioning of our Religious School.

Adults model the behavior we wish to teach our children. Cooperation and mutual respect (kavod) are the cornerstone principles of our community.

No student or teacher will be treated disrespectfully by anyone and bullying will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Conflicts will be resolved thoughtfully and with full and appropriate communication.

Everyone is expected to:

● Show respect for one's self and others.

● Show respect for other people's property.

● Show respect for synagogue property.

● Use appropriate language, in words and tone.

● Arrive at school prepared, with required materials, ready to learn.

Discipline issues will first be dealt with in an age-appropriate manner between student and teacher and the Director of Education will be notified. If the problem persists, the parents will be notified and asked to meet with the student, teacher, and Director to resolve the issue.

Dress Code

All students are requested to dress comfortably yet appropriately for all occasions. Neat, clean, casual clothing sends a message of respect appropriate to being in a synagogue. Those students who participate in sports before or after class may wear team uniforms; however, all cleats, guards, and other equipment must be removed before entering the classrooms or Sanctuary.

All male students are required to wear a kippah when participating in school, Shabbat, and holiday celebrations; they will be asked to substitute a kippah for a baseball or other type of cap. Kippot are optional for female students.

Internal Photo Release

Often throughout the year, we take photos of our students engaged in class activities. Such photos are used for internal purposes (hung on the wall, posted in a parent newsletter, etc.).
