2020 Summer Performing Arts @ Home

The Performing Arts @ Home Summer Program is based on a bi-weekly themed theater experience that culminates in students contributing to a virtual showcase. Different weeks offer different opportunities for learning and experimenting in the performing arts. At the end of the summer, work from all weeks of the program will be represented in a final showcase.

Session 1: July 6-17: Theme - Monologues - Write and perform your own short monologue! Don’t want to write? That’s OK! Katie will help you to select an appropriate monologue. Through five independent activities presented through Google classroom and two 30-minute live coaching sessions (one per week, scheduled individually at a convenient time) conducted through Zoom, you will write/select, rehearse, and eventually film your monologue, which will become part of the final virtual showcase. Class also includes three 30-minute group meetings (optional participation) to get to know other students and work collaboratively. Group meetings scheduled for Mondays (July 6 and July 13) of each program week, Time = 2:00pm, and one Friday final week wrap-up on July 17, Time = 2:00pm. (Limits: maximum enrollment = 8)

Session 2: July 20-31: Theme - Dance - Learn a short dance combination and film yourself performing the combination. These videos will be put together to create a virtual ensemble performance, which will become part of the final virtual showcase.  The Dance session offers five instructional videos, presented through Google Classroom, that teach the combination in short chunks, allowing students the time to practice independently.  Two 30-minute live coaching sessions (one per week, scheduled individually at a convenient time) conducted through Zoom will allow each student the opportunity to work with the teacher on anything they're struggling with in the combination. Class also includes three 30-minute group meetings (optional participation) to get to know other students and work collaboratively. Group meetings scheduled for Mondays (July 20 and July 27) of each program week, Time = 2:00pm, and one Friday final week wrap-up on July 31, Time = 2:00pm. (Limits: minimum 5, maximum 15)
