Wayland-Weston Rowing Assocation, Inc. (WWRA) is dedicated to bringing the joy of rowing to the greater Wayland-Weston community. Our mission is to offer a quality rowing experience. Our core focus is to offer a competitive interscholastic rowing program of excellence. We value achievement as a team and as individuals. We want to teach students how to set goals and achieve them, and we want them to experience the benefits of teamwork, perseverance and discipline. We also want them to enjoy the fun, camaraderie, and traditions of this prestigious sport. WWRA offers a variety of programs.
High school. Wayland-Weston Crew is a high school program for students in grades 9-12 attending Wayland and Weston public high schools. Wayland-Weston Crew is a varsity sport at both high schools and is offered in the fall and spring seasons. Fall races are long-distance (3 mile head races) while those in the spring are sprints (1,500-2,000 meters).
Middle school. WWRA offers an introductory program for middle school students in grades 6-8. We offer sessions of five weeks in the fall and spring, a one-week camp in April, and a variety of week-long sessions throughout the summer. The program assumes no prior rowing experience, and provides a useful transition to the high school program.
Adult. WWRA offers rowing programs to adults from the community throughout the year.
Winter Training. The winter training program is designed to maintain or build a base level of strength and endurance through a combination of aerobic conditioning and strength training. The program is offered to high school athletes from any school.
Summer Community Programs. WWRA offers a variety of programs to the community in the summer. These are open to adults and juniors (at least 13 years old). They include learn to row or experienced classes in either sweep rowing or sculling.
