2017 Summer Science and Nature Study Programs for Children
Registration opens February 1, 2017!
Our staff of Teacher/Naturalists guide children ages 3 to 12 through a wide range of age-appropriate indoor and outdoor science and nature-based activities in a variety of habitats. Following the example set by children’s author and conservationist Thornton W. Burgess, each program strives to instill an appreciation for the interdependency of living organisms within the natural world. Our science programs follow State guidelines including the STEAM initiative (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) through opportunities for design, experimentation and exploration.
Green Briar Nature Center is surrounded by the Town-owned Briar Patch Conservation Area with its variety of habitats including forest, pond and freshwater wetlands. Students ages 5 through 9 explore the Society-managed East Sandwich Game Farm property with its access to salt marsh, tidal creeks, open fields, forest and freshwater areas, as well as, programs at a local beach and tidal pool area.
