SP19-X02      Night Photography with Nicole Mordecai,  Saturday, May 4, 2019,  6 - 10 pm  (rain date: Sunday May 5, 2019)

Of all the different types of photography, low light and night photography provide the best opportunities for creating otherworldly and painterly images. Of course you can also create beautiful night landscapes complete with lovely starbursts. This hands-on class will cover a range of techniques that rely on slow shutter speeds, including panning, zooming, and two different types of light painting. The class will conclude with a demonstration of post-processing techniques for enhancing your low light and night images.

  • DSLR or other camera that allows you to shoot in manual mode so you have the ability to fully control ISO, aperture, and shutter speed
  • At least one extra camera battery - night photography uses up battery life much more quickly than daytime photography
  • Camera manual if you're not completely familiar with using your camera in manual mode
  • Tripod
  • Remote trigger release
  • Wide angle lens
  • Lens with a zoom feature (can be the same lens as the wide angle, or a different lens)
  • Powerful flashlight
  • Optional - light-up toys, battery-operated colored lights
