Out of this World

Registration Deadline 08/02/2021

Did you know that scientists and engineers often use math while discovering and designing? The organization of The Solar System is just one example of this. In this workshop, students will explore the use of ratios and proportions to create a scale drawing of our solar system. Through inquiry and hands-on experiences, students will practice measurement, unit conversion, and calculating scale. Using problem solving skills, students will then reflect on the size of the planets and moons in our solar system, using what they have learned to design a realistic to-scale art piece (drawing, painting, poster, mural) of The Solar System.
