No activities are planned. Dinner will be on your own. There are several restaurants on site at the Resort at Glade Springs. Also, there are several nice restaurants in Beckley about 15 miles away. The hospitality room will be open at 7:00 until 11:00.
Thursday, June 17
Thursday is activity day. The people going whitewater rafting will leave the hotel at about 7:30 am and the rafting trip begins at 8:30. We will meet in the main hotel lobby where we registered for the conference and leave from there. Remember to take a change of clothes so you can have something to ride back comfortable in. You will be on the river for about 5 hours. Also, remember that you have to have a pair of shoes that are closed toe, no sandals.
The zip line people will leave the hotel at about 9:30 am and the zip line adventure will begin at 11:00. The gravity zip line is about 1 ½ hours long soyou will be back at the hotel before dinner.
Golf will be played at the Jones Golf Course at the Resort. The cost is $60.00 including green fees and cart. The group will leave at 8:30 from the lobby for the golf outing. At 6:00 we will meet for dinner at the lawn in front of the golf course. The menu will be a picnic with hot dog, hamburgers with fixings. After dinner is over the hospitality room will be open in the Manor House
Friday, June 18
The NIAAA Section II meeting will start at 9:00 in the Woodland II and III room in the Hotel. The meeting will continue as long as needed to complete all of the agenda.
After the meeting is over, if anyone would be interested in going to the Greenbrier Resort to tour the Bunker at the Resort we will help in making plans and leading the trip. We will leave as soon as the meeting is over. The tour will start at 3:30 and we need to be there by 3:15. The tour will last about 1 ½ hours. No electronic equipment is allowed on the tour. After the tour we will plan to eat at the Greenbrier. If you want to eat at the main restaurant you will need a tie and sport coat and women will dress appropriately. If you would like to eat at the West 44 restaurant (Jerry West’s restaurant and very pricey) you will need a sport coat but no tie and again women must dress appropriately. Reservations are needed for those restaurants. There are other restaurants that do not need a coat and tie and are not that pricey.
After we leave the Greenbrier, we will return to Glade Springs Resort and the hospitality room will again be open for the evening.
We hope you have a great time in West Virginia. If you need anything while visiting with us feel free to give me a call at 304-549-3253.
Plans could change. We will notify everyone if there is much of a change. We are trying to bring down the cost of the white water rafting and zip lining. There is no charge for the Boy Scout tour.
