On Thursday May 24th the middle school will be traveling to Manitowish Waters for a day trip on the Manitowish River. The North Lakeland Discovery Center will be guiding us for a day of study of the water and ecosystems of the river as part of their science curriculum.
We will be departing early from Phelps School at 7:00 am in order to complete the journey. Any student that needs to eat breakfast at school will be able to before the bus leaves at 7:00 am. Otherwise, students should eat breakfast before coming to school. The school will provide a lunch and students can bring a snack for the bus. The only food brought on the river will be the lunch that the school provides.
Students should plan to bring the following items:
Water Bottle with Water (No Soda or Energy Drinks) ____
Light Rain Gear ______
Water Shoes or Shoes that they don't care getting wet ______
Change of Clothes to be left on the bus _____
Sun Hat _____
The school will provide sunscreen, bug repellent, and a first aid kit if needed. The Discovery Center will provide all life jackets and paddles. We ask that student DO NOT bring electronics or laptops even on the bus. We plan to be back by 3:00 pm so that students can catch the evening buses home. If you have any questions please contact us at the school.
Looking forward to the adventure!
