MIDDLE SCHOOL HANDBOOK AND CODE OF CONDUCT

Dear Parents/Guardians of South Lewis Middle School Students,

On behalf of the administration, faculty, and staff of South Lewis Central School, I would like to invite you to actively participate in your child’s educational program.

We have published the South Lewis Middle School Student/Parent Handbook in the student planner and also the South Lewis Code of Conduct to help relay information and answer questions about the activities, procedures and rules that specifically apply to the middle school.  We believe knowing and adhering to this handbook and code of conduct will help all of us provide a safe and orderly school environment that will be conducive to learning.  The middle school program, as well as this handbook and code of conduct, is designed to focus on the academic and social needs of the child.  Foremost to this concept is the desire to promote and encourage a sense of responsibility and good citizenship among our students.

We believe that school is a miniature society, just as any society requires laws and rules to function effectively, we also have established behavioral guidelines to ensure that everyone involved within the South Lewis Middle School community is given protection and freedom with responsibility.

We hope you find the handbook and code of conduct helpful, and we are asking parents/ guardians and students to review it together.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at 348-2570.  I would ask that both you and your Middle School child sign the form below.  We are looking forward to a successful and rewarding school year and appreciate your time and efforts toward ensuring this for everyone.

                                                                  Respectfully,

Ms. Judith Duppert, Middle School Principal
