COVID-19 UPDATE: **To start the athletic season physicals have to be valid through the last play-day of that sport season. The duration of the pandemic and social distancing restrictions are unknown at this time and the difficulty of getting in to see your PCP warrant an adjustment to this guideline. The purpose of the PPE or “sports physical” is to maximize the health of athletes and their safe participation in sports. Parents and guardians should be informed that extending the duration between PPEs is a deviation from the standard of care. If needed, and absent indications to the contrary (pre-existing medical conditions), parents will be allowed to complete a health history form (embedded in the family ID registration), until further notice, for any student who has a PPE that “expires” within our guidelines. (Guidelines = a physical exam is valid for 730 days from the day it was signed by the students PCP but must be valid through the end of the sports season).
As part of this process, each health history form will be evaluated by a school medical professional. If there are medical indicators that warrant an updated PPE then parents will be notified of this and student-athletes will have to obtain documentation of PPE and clearance for athletic participation.
Students who have not had a PPE, such as incoming freshmen and students who are first-time participants in athletics, are still required to have a PPE prior to athletic participation and will not be allowed to use the health history form as a temporary replacement.**
As part of the registration process, each student must have submitted a physical exam within the past 24 months from the first day of practice/tryouts and be valid until the end of that sport season. All physicals must be submitted to the Scarborough High School Athletic office. Please note on the physical the sport your son/daughter will be participating in. Failure to submit an updated exam could result in a delay in the student/athlete's participation. All physicals must be dated and signed by the physician and contain the date of the actual physical exam. The physical form must state that the student is cleared to participate in sports and activities. This online registration program will allow you to upload a copy of your most recent physical exam document.
