Fall 2018 Athletic Registration

Registration for Fall Sports – Monday, July 30, 2018 through Wednesday, August 22, 2018

Students must register through our online registration service, Family ID prior to making your payment online:    www.familyid.com/braintree-high-school

ALL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO PAY A STUDENT ATHLETIC FEE BEFORE THE FIRST DAY OF TRYOUTS AND/OR PRACTICE.

The High School Student Athletic Fee is $150 per student per sport with the exception of hockey, which is $425 for Varsity Hockey and $350 for Junior Varsity Hockey. 

The Middle School Student Athletic Fee is $50 per student per sport. 

There is a Family Cap per School Year of $1,200.  If you have reached the Family Cap of $1,200 for the School Year, you must still register the student(s) for the sport in Family ID, but do not make any additional payments. 

Students who qualify for free or reduced lunch will receive a reduced Student Athletic Fee of 50%, rounded up to the nearest whole dollar.

                •  High School - $75 per student per sport with the exception of hockey, which is $213 for Varsity Hockey and $175 for Junior Varsity Hockey

                •  Middle School - $25 per student per sport

Waivers may be applied for on a case by case basis and must include a complete Sharing information With Other Programs form, which gives permission to share eligibility status in regards to the athletic fee status.

All students must pass a physical examination prior to participation in Braintree Public School Athletics.   Physical exams must be on file in the Braintree High School, South Middle School or East Middle School Nurse’s office.   A physical exam covers the student for 12 months from the exam date.

Student-Athletes must pass a sports physical examination prior to participation in High School Athletics (covering the student-athlete for 12 months from the exam date), have the permission of their parents or guardian for participating in each sport, maintain satisfactory academic and citizenship standings according to Braintree High School and the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA).

As of June 8, 2011, in order to participate in the interscholastic athletic program at Braintree High School, all Athletes and Parents must take and pass an online concussion course. This form constitutes a permission statement that must be signed by a parent or guardian. All of the information on this form is confidential and will be used only for the purpose of evaluating your child's health status, complying with state law, facilitating medical diagnosis, care and/or treatment, or in the processing of insurance claims in connection therewith.

Braintree High School Athletic Department Announces Fall Registration and Tryout Schedule

Mark your calendar. Another year of high school sports is right around the corner.

Beginning July 20, 2018, The Braintree High School Athletic Department will offer the convenience of online registration for each of our sports seasons through our partner company, FamilyID (www.familyid.com/braintree-high-school). FamilyID is a secure registration platform that provides an easy, user-friendly way to register for BHS athletic programs, and helps BHS to be more administratively efficient and environmentally responsible. Additional information regarding the registration process is located at the Braintree Public Schools website http://braintreeschools.org/.

Here is the Schedule for Fall Tryouts at Braintree High School: 

Football:  Preseason Conditioning Friday 8/17 (9 am to noon), Saturday 8/18 (7:30 am to 11:30 am) & Monday 8/20 (3:30 pm to 7 pm) at Alumni Stadium - all grades.

Cheer:  Monday 8/20 and Tuesday 8/21 from 5 pm to 7 pm - Herget Gymnasium

Dance:  Monday 8/20 to Friday 8/24 from 8 am to noon & 1 pm to 3 pm – Herget Gymnasium                      

Field Hockey:  Thursday 8/23 thru Saturday 8/25 from 8:30 am to 11:30 am – Back Turf  – all grades

Golf:  Meeting Wednesday 8/22 at 9 am in cafeteria - all grades; Thursday Tee-time Tryouts at noon - Braintree Municipal

Boys Soccer:  Thursday 8/23 (2 pm to 4 pm) and Friday 8/24 (9 am to 11 am and 4 pm to 6 pm) - all grades at Alumni Stadium

Girls Soccer: Thursday 8/23 and Friday 8/24 from 8:30 am to 11 am & Saturday 8/25 from 7 am to 9 am - all grades at Alumni Stadium

Boys/Girls Cross Country:   Thursday 8/23 at 8:30 am at Track; Friday 8/24 & Saturday 8/25 at 6:30 am at Track - all grades

Boys/Girls Swim:       Thursday 8/23 at 9:30 am at BHS Cafeteria - all grades & Monday 8/27 thru Thursday 8/30 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Randolph High School Pool - all grades

Volleyball:      Thursday 8/23 - Grades 10-12 from 8 am to 11 am & Grade 9 from noon to 3 pm at Herget Gymnasium

                        Friday 8/24 - Grades 10-12 from 8 am to 11 am & Grade 9 from noon to 2:30 pm at Herget Gymnasium

                        Saturday 8/25 - Grades 10-12 from 8 am to 11 am & Grade 9 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at Herget Gymnasium

Eligibility for Tryouts and Fall Participation:

To be eligible for athletic tryout participation, all fall sports candidates MUST:

1.  Be Academically Eligible based on Final Report Card Grades.

2.  Complete Online Registration at:  www.familyid.com/braintree-high-school. The registration period will be open from Friday, July 20th thru Wednesday, August 22nd only.  

3.  Students must download and complete Braintree Public Schools Pre-Participation Head Injury/Concussion Reporting Form.  Completed form must be turned in to the Athletic Director prior to tryouts. Form may be download at www.familyid.com/braintree-high-school.

4.  Produce a current, up-to-date physical examination to the Athletic Trainer's office prior to participation in tryouts.  Athletes must pass a sports physical examination prior to participation in Braintree Public School Athletics.  Physical exams must be on file in the Braintree High School, South Middle School or East Middle School Nurse's Office.  A physical exam covers the student for 12 months from the exam date.  A student’s eligibility will terminate once a physical has reached the annual limit, which is the last day of the month in which the previous physical exam was performed (e.g.- if the physical is dated December 3, 2017, the latest you can turn in a new physical is December 31, 2018, or the student-athlete is no longer allowed to participate – rendered ineligible).   Sports Physical will be offered on Thursday, August 16th, at 10 am in the Nurse’s Office located on first floor of Braintree High School.  Cost of Sports Physical is $ 10.00.

5.  Participate in one of the free online concussion courses listed below and print a copy of the course completion certificate for both the parent and the student-athlete.  Two Total.

6.  Have a current Baseline ImPACT test prior to tryouts.  Baseline ImPACT testing will be performed on the following dates and times in the BHS Media Center: 

        Thursday, August 16     from 3 pm-3:45 pm; 4 pm-4:45pm; 1-1:40pm; & 5 pm-5:45 pm        

        Tuesday, August 21       from 9:45 am-10:30 am; 10:45 am-11:30 am & 11:45 am-12:30 pm               

ImPact test is good for 2 years.  If ImPact test date is current and on file, requirement is fulfilled.

 8.  Students should return BPS Pre-participation Concussion Form, Online Concussion Certificates, Copy of Physical Exam and Athletic Fee Payment to Mr. Denise’s Office, MC-12 as soon as possible to ensure requirements are completed and participation in tryouts is granted.  Students missing any of the above requirements will not be allowed to participate in tryouts.  For additional information, please contact Athletic Director Michael Denise - (781) 848-4000 x7810.
