Participation in the MHS athletic program is a privilege, all students/athletes are expected to provide a leadership role for members of the student body, and always act in an exemplary manner that will be complimentary to the team, school and community.
Melrose High School is pleased to offer the following sports and activities for the Fall 2018 season:

Football Volleyball - Girls
*This activity is not covered by the MHS athletic user fee. Funding is provided by booster clubs and/or fundraising by members of that organization.
Fall athletic eligibility will be based on the final year end grades from the previous school year. All incoming freshmen are eligible for fall athletic teams regardless of final 8th grade year end grades.
PHYSICAL EXAMINATION POLICY
A physical exam is good for 13 months to the day. Once a student's physical has expired, the student will no longer be eligible to participate until a new physical form is on file.
The state law requires that student/athletes along with their parent(s)/guardian(s) complete the on line concussion course.
The concussion certification must be completed once per year.
NOTIFICATIONS, FEES AND UPDATES
Online registration for Fall Sports is available now. Checks and physicals can be submitted to the Athletic Department between 8:30am and 3:00pm Monday through Friday. Melrose Public Schools will be closed on Fridays beginning July 6, 2018 for the summer. Physicals can be e-mailed to Denise Daglio at firstname.lastname@example.org or faxed to the MHS main office 781-979-2206.
The School Committee adopted a new user fee structure with an individual cap of $1,100.00 and family cap of $1,500.00.
Financial hardship inquiries will be handled confidentially and should be brought to the attention of the Director of Athletics, Mr. Stephen Fogarty. Fees can be reduced or eliminated for families that qualify for the "Free and Reduced Price" school meal program, please use the MHS web site for the application.

UNIFORM AND EQUIPMENT RETURN POLICY
Students must have returned all school athletic uniforms and or equipment prior to going out for a new team or sport. Students will be held financially responsible for any equipment or uniforms that are not returned or returned in poor condition.
Once all on line forms have been completed and user fees are received, the student will be approved through the Athletic Department.
Payments cannot be made here on the FamilyID registration system, Athletic user fee payments will be made available online through the MCC e-school system. You will find the link under the payment section as well as on the MHS Athletic website. Please note: MCC excepts Discover and Master Card but does not except Visa.
If your son/daughter does not make the team they have auditioned for, you will receive a refund or if you wrote a check it will be voided.
Football practice will begin August 17, 2018.
All other Fall Sports will start practice on August 23, 2018. A detailed Practice/Try-out Schedule for all teams will be posted by July 9, 2018.
