One of the traditions I would like to start for the cross-country team is a team camp each year. I believe positive activities like running camps build community and help student-athletes succeed in many aspects of their lives over the short and long term. The camp will take place at Cascades Camp in Yelm from the afternoon of August 20, through the late morning of August 22. We will carpool from/to JPII.
The purpose of the camp is to set team goals for the year, work on individual training plans for each person, conduct team building activities, pray for our season and for our team, and to talk about other team goals and activities for the year. There will also be some fun games and activities available at the camp. And of course, we will run as well! After all, we are a cross country team!
Four adults will supervise and chaperone the camp: Dr. Tracy Russell, Julie Weber, Coach Carter and myself. Students will stay in cabins and all meals will be made by camp staff for our group. We will also have access to a large room for team meetings and other activities.
I will send out a detailed agenda to all students, parents, and staff involved in the next few days.
The cost of the camp is $120.50 for the entire stay for food, lodging, and all activities. If you don’t have the funds for the camp but still want to attend, please send me a private e-mail and we will find a way to provide you with a scholarship for the camp. We want to provide every opportunity for all cross-country student-athletes to attend this camp.
