The Northport-East Northport Fine and Performing Arts Department is pleased to offer an "in-person" High School Orchestra Clinic for summer 2021. This program is open to any orchestra student in current grades 8-11 for the 2020-21 school year. Clinic will be under the direction of Mr. Michael Susinno, who will assume leadership of the orchestral program in September of the 2021-22 school year.
Our two-week program will run from Monday, July 12th through Friday, July 23rd. Students will be able to make music, sharpen their skills for September and HAVE FUN ALONG THE WAY! The cost of this program is $100.
Our Pre-Clinic will run from Monday, July 12th through Friday, July 16th from 4:00-9:00PM. We will work on a variety of traditional pieces, chamber music and prepare an orchestral program for our guest clinician. Students will need to bring dinner and snacks from home.
Our Clinic will run from Monday, July 19 through Friday, July 23rd from 4:00-9:00 PM. We will have daily rehearsals with our guest clinician as well as chamber music coaching. All of our facilities will be fully air-conditioned. The cost of clinic will include dinner for all students. At this time, we will be having individually portioned meals delivered in separate containers. A registration option that does not include the cost of food will be available for those students with specific dietary needs or for those who prefer to bring their own food from home.
We are planning on having a performance on Friday, July 23rd at 7:00 PM in the Northport High School auditorium. We are very excited to welcome our families to hear LIVE music again. We will follow all safety guidelines and social distancing directives to ensure the safety of our students.
In order to prepare for this program, we ask that students and parents make a commitment to attend the NHS Orchestra Clinic no later than May 14th, 2021. It is particularly important for students to make a firm commitment so that we may plan for the chamber music portion of this program.
