2021 Fall Sports Registration

Registration Deadline 10/08/2021
Payment Deadline 10/08/2021

Welcome to Ida B. Wells High School online-only sports registration. This system provides convenience and efficiency for you, the coaches and the athletic office. After you sign up once, it's very easy to register for other sports or add siblings (be sure to remember your account email address and password!).

If your student has played a sport at IBW, LOGIN and complete the Fall Sports Registration Form.

If your student has NOT played a sport at IBW, you will first need to set up an account in Family ID for Ida B. Wells HS. Click Create Account. Enter info including a parent's email address (not the athlete's email address at this point). Family ID will send you an email. Click on the link in this email to complete the Fall Sports Registration. This form must be filled out by the parent/guardian and athlete together.

Create your account from a computer, not your phone. In the future, however, you can access your account easily from a computer or a phone. If you have any problems with registration, call or email Family ID.  The information is at the top of the page.

Fall sports practice/tryouts start Aug 16. Completing this online registration and having a current physical form on file are both required before an athlete can practice. Paying the required fees (or making arrangements) are required before an athlete can participate in a contest.

PHYSICALS

OSAA rules mandate that all student athletes have a physical examination every two years. If necessary, please schedule an exam and have your medical provider complete the physical exam form.  We can only accept the most current version of the form.
You can find this physical form:
1) in the links section on the right hand side of this page
2) on the IBW Athletics website IBWAthletics/Registration
3) Paper copies can be found in the Main Office and the Athletic Department

If you do not have a regular medical provider, other options for getting a sports physical are OHSU Gabriel Park and Urgent Care Centers. The Multnohmah County Student Health Centers are also a good low-cost or no-cost option (see links to the right)

Oregon law mandates that we need a copy of the completed physical form.  You can get the physical to us by:
1) uploading it in the registration form.  Please only attach a scanned PDF.  Photos are not accepted.
2) scan and email it to lvanhorn@pps.net  Again, photos are not accepted.
3) drop off a copy at the school during business hours.
Parents should also keep a copy of the physical.

MEDICAL INSURANCE

PPS does not provide medical insurance for Athletics. If Student Health Insurance Coverage is needed, please see the link to the right for more information.

FEES
The required Portland Interscholastic League (PIL) Pay-to-Play fee is $200 per sport. The cap is $400 per school year per athlete and $800 per family per school year.
A reduced fee is available if you qualify for Free or Reduced Lunch. If an athlete needs to quit a sport due to injury or academics three weeks or less into the season, a partial refund can be arranged. Payments can be made using https://pps.schoolpay.com/ beginning July 1 or in person in the bookkeeper's office after August 9. For cut sports, payment should be made after team rosters are announced.

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS
Students who fail to meet any of these 3 requirements are not eligible to participate in OSAA contests:
1) students must have passed 5 classes the previous semester (except incoming freshmen)
2) students must be enrolled in and passing 5 classes in the current semester.
3) students must be making satisfactory progress toward graduation by earning the minimum number of credits: 4.5 credits by the start of 10th grade, 10 credits by the start of 11th grade, 17 credits by the start of 12th grade.

In addition, after 1st Qtr grades, if students have received a 2.0 GPA or less with no F's or a 2.5 GPA or less with one or more F's, they will be placed on academic probation and must attend study sessions until the end of the season to remain eligible.
