PHYSICAL EXAMS

In order to participate in high school athletics, all students must have a current physical exam on file in the nurse’s office.  According to the MIAA Handbook, a physical exam covers the student for 13 months from the exam date. Once a student’s physical has expired after 13 months, the student will no longer be eligible to participate in athletics. To regain eligibility, a new physical exam form must be submitted to the nurse’s office.

IMPACT TESTING

ATTENTION  Incoming 9th graders, Rising Juniors, and Transfer Students,

ImPACT baseline concussion tests must be completed before winter tryouts. Information about this process will be communicated by Adam Hryniewicz, our Athletic Trainer, to each family after the completion and submission of registration.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Please review the instructions prepared by the Newton Public Schools to request a waiver for athletics. We look forward to working with your family.

The Waiver Process:
As in prior years, it is the intention of the Newton Public Schools that no student should be excluded from fee-based activities due to inability to pay. Families may apply for a fee waiver based on financial hardship so that no students denied participation in school-sponsored activities and bus transportation. Waivers are based on income and family size as well as special circumstances such as unforeseen medical problems, change in family status, change in employment status, other emergencies, or temporary hardships. All waiver applications are confidential. Financial waivers do not apply to high school parking.

Newton families may access the financial waiver application by visiting the following link: Waiver form

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE WAIVERS ARE REVIEWED BY THE DISTRICT BUSINESS OFFICE.
