2021-2022 School Year Opening: Parent Survey

Registration Deadline 05/07/2021

Dear New Hope-Solebury Community,

Throughout this challenging year, our District has developed and implemented the operational and safety protocols to facilitate and sustain in-person instruction for all grade levels. In the interests of student learning and with continued attention to health and safety, we intend to reopen our schools this fall for five-day, in-person instruction at full capacity.

While we are prepared to welcome all students back into our classrooms, we understand there may be families who are reluctant to send their children to school in-person.  In the past, New Hope-Solebury School District has offered a cyber program, The New Hope-Solebury Online Virtual Academy. This option will be made available for students who opt-out of in-person instruction.

To better understand the needs of our families, we kindly request parent/guardian feedback on the 2021-2022 proposed learning models via an online survey no later than Friday, May 7 at 11:59pm. Prior to completing the survey, please take a few moments and review the proposed models below. Please note that should the circumstances of the pandemic change over the summer, we will revisit our reopening plans. *If we do not hear from you, we will assume your child is returning to our traditional program.

Thank you in advance for your feedback and for assisting us with this process.

Proposed Elementary Learning Models 2021-2022

NHSSD resumed five-day, in-person instruction at both the Lower Elementary School and the Upper Elementary School in November. A separate, virtual instructional program was also offered.  For the 2021-2022 school year, we will provide five-day, in-person instruction and are prepared for a return to full student capacity.  Any student who chooses not to participate in the in-person instructional program will have the option to select the New Hope-Solebury Online Virtual Academy through a third party content provider such as Pearson Education.  An explanation of each model is provided below.

Traditional Classroom In-Person Instructional Program

We will offer in-person instruction in a traditional classroom model. This includes the following features:

  • All students will be assigned to a classroom teacher and participate in a fully in-person instructional program.
  • Students will attend school in-person five full days per week.
  • Students will not have virtual classmates or teachers.
  • Classrooms will accommodate a minimum spacing of 3 feet between desks.
  • We will no longer offer our modified schedule and will return to our regular daily schedule.

Virtual Instructional Program

The School District will offer the New Hope-Solebury Online Virtual Academy through a third party provider such as Pearson Education for those families who do not wish to send their child(ren) back to school for in-person instruction.  The Virtual Academy is an asynchronous virtual model.   We are anticipating the following components to the virtual program:

  • Asynchronous learning materials provided for students to complete daily.
  • Optional synchronous instruction with a third party instructor is available twice a week in core subjects.
  • Daily office hours with a third party instructor is available.
  • Virtual students would have the opportunity to transition to in-person instruction at the end of each semester. The transition will require the student to change their program to an in-person instructor.
  • A link for more information on the program can be found here.

Proposed Secondary Learning Models 2021-2022

Our secondary schools returned for full in-person instruction in April 2021. We also continued to offer a virtual instructional model utilizing classroom live-streaming.  As we are anticipating more in-person students returning to school in the fall, the livestreaming model will no longer be available.  We will offer five-day, in-person instruction for all students in the 2021-2022 school year.  Any student who chooses not to participate in the in-person instructional program will have the option to select the New Hope-Solebury Online Virtual Academy through a third party provider.  An explanation of each model is provided below.

Traditional Classroom In-Person Instructional Model

We will continue to offer in-person instruction in a traditional classroom model with the following components:

  • All students will be assigned to a roster of classroom teachers and rotate through their daily schedule.
  • Students who select in-person instruction will attend school in-person, five days per week. The traditional instructional schedule at the high school will resume.
  • We will no longer be offering the modified block schedule in the fall.
  • In-person students will not have virtual classmates or teachers.
  • We will continue to maximize spacing in each classroom with a minimum spacing between desks of 3 feet in each classroom.

Virtual Instructional Program

The School District will offer the New Hope-Solebury Online Virtual Academy through a third party provider for those families who do not wish to send their child(ren) back to school for in-person instruction. The Virtual Academy is a 100% asynchronous virtual model.   We are anticipating the following components to the virtual program:

  • Daily asynchronous learning materials provided by a third-party program.
  • Opportunity for daily support by virtual teachers.
  • Live-streaming of instruction will not be available.
  • Virtual students would have the opportunity to transition to in-person instruction at the end of each semester.
  • A link for more information on the program can be found here.

Online registration for this program is currently closed/unavailable. Please contact New Hope-Solebury School District Programs for further information.
