Each year PIAA regulations require that all student-athletes of the Upper Darby School District receive a physical examination prior to their participation in interscholastic athletics. This physical must be performed and dated no earlier than June 1st and shall be effective, regardless of when performed during a school year, only until May 31st of that same school year. For this upcoming school year, those valid dates are June 1, 2019 – May 31, 2020. Failure to turn in paperwork prior to the start of tryouts for your sport will result in a loss of participation for the upcoming season (until all necessary paperwork is received, and at the discretion of the coach/athletic department).
INSTRUCTIONS FOR SPORTS PHYSICALS
**Please Note Change in Policy**
The PIAA, as well as the Upper Darby School District, requires a PIAA Comprehensive Initial Pre-participation Physical Evaluation (CIPPE) before a student can take part in any activities involving interscholastic sports. The physical will be valid for one academic year, not the calendar year. The physical must be given after June 1, 2019. Students cannot participate in try-outs or practice until a doctor has cleared them using the PIAA Comprehensive Initial Pre-participation Physical Evaluation (including Section 6), the Upper Darby School District Blue Card, and the Understanding Nonmedical/Misuse of Prescription Medications and Addiction: Pink Form. The whole CIPPE form, including Section 6, which must be filled out by your child's physician, can be found HERE.
If you were injured in or between previous sport seasons you must see the UDHS Athletic Trainer.
