PHYSICAL EXAMS & IMPACT TESTING
All students must have a current health physical on file in the nurse's office. Please note the MIAA has recently modified regulations of physical exam (PE) requirements for student athletes. In effort to maintain compliance with the Department of Health, the MIAA has stated that physical exams must cover an entire sports season. To comply with DPH regulations, schools have the option to choose to adopt a policy that requires physical examinations within 12 or 13 months of the student's last physical. Newton South will honor the 13 month period. Once a student's physical has expired, the student will no longer be eligible to participate. To regain eligibility a new physical form must be on file at the nurse's office.
ImPact baseline test will be administered after school on the following dates:
February 25, 26 and 27. Please make an appointment if you are a first season athlete at South or if you are a Junior playing for the first time this year. Registration for the test is on our athletic page under Spring ImPact Testing Registration. Our trainer can be reached at the following email: firstname.lastname@example.org

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM:
Please review the instructions prepared by the Newton Public Schools to request an athletic waiver. Please note that financial assistance applications are reviewed by the Business Office. Applications must be mailed to the following address: Newton Public Schools, Business Office, 100 Walnut Street, Newtonville, MA 02460
The Waiver Process:
As in prior years, it is the intention of the Newton Public Schools that no student should be excluded from fee-based activities due to the inability to pay. Families may apply for a fee waiver based on financial hardship so that no students denied participation in school-sponsored activities and bus transportation. Waivers are based on income and family size as well as special circumstances such as unforeseen medical problems, change in family status, change in employment status, other emergencies, or temporary hardships. All waiver applications are confidential. Financial waivers do not apply to high school parking.
Newton families may access detailed fee information including financial waiver instruction (including waiver application) and online payment options on the district's website by visiting the following link:
