FALL SPORTS/ATHLETIC CLEARANCE

This includes Cheer, Cross Country, Dance, Football, Soccer, & Volleyball.

The OSAA released a statement saying that due to Covid-19 they will be postponing the fall season to begin in February 2021.  Because of this we will not be holding our previously scheduled fall clearances on August 19th & 20th (do not come to the school).

ATHLETIC ELIGIBILITY

The North Clackamas School District board of directors has implemented stringent eligibility rules for athletics and activities. These requirements are in addition to standards implemented by the OSAA, the state agency governing athletics and activities. The state requires that students pass a minimum of 5 classes the previous semester and meet the guidelines for "Satisfactory Progress Towards Graduation", beginning of students Sophomore year 4.5 credits earned, beginning of a students Junior year 10 credits earned, and beginning of a students Senior year 17 credits earned . In addition, North Clackamas School District requires a 2.0 grade point average, with no grade of an "F" on the report card. Students who do not meet the District requirements may become eligible to participate by:

1) Transferring credits from an accredited summer or night school institution in order to correct a grade

2) Spending one semester on academic probation ("Plan of Assistance") in lieu of losing eligibility. Academic probation lasts through the athletic/activities season during the semester of participation.

3) Appealing his/her ineligibility status in writing to the Athletic Director.

4) Note: students who have fallen below GPA may not exceed one semester on academic probation.


USER FEE

In order to provide a comprehensive School Activities Program, students participating in school activities will be assessed a user fee. The charge for district-funded sports is $175 per sport and a $25 user fee for Student Body Card, to a individual maximum of $425, and a maximum of $700 per family, excluding Non-Funded sports.


PHYSICAL REQUIRED EVERY TWO YEARS FOR ATHLETIC PARTICIPATION:
All participants must have on file with Athletic Office a completed sports physical. Sports physicals last for two years. If you are an incoming Freshmen your physical must be dated after March 15, 2020.

These must be completed prior to any participation in athletics, including practices/tryouts. Participants must present evidence of either private or school medical insurance.

If you are new to Rex Putnam you will have to provide a copy of a physical or complete a physical.


TRANSFERS

Approval of conditional admission does not imply your child can participate in OSAA athletics or activities, due to additional state regulations. If your child intends to participate in athletics or activities, a meeting with the attending school district athletic director is required prior to your child's participation at practice, games, or events. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND THE OSAA TRANSFER RULES, SO THAT YOU DO NOT JEOPARDIZE YOUR CHILD'S ELIGIBILITY
