Welcome to the 20-21 academic year. Below is information that you must read and sign off on in order to coach this season. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me. Coaches must complete the following each season: NFHS Concussion Course. Coaches also need to get certified to coach through the NFHS and must take NFHS Principals of Coaching and their sport specific course. Coach MUST maintain a CPR/AED and First Aid certification. Note the NFHS course recommendations are free of charge and are highly recommended to complete.

By indicating yes in your sign off, you are telling the school district that your certifications are completed/current and on file with Michelle Kelly.
The athletic program intends to provide an opportunity for student-athletes to develop and display their talents through competition. All student-athletes place the highest priority on the quality of education and the successful completion of academic programs.
Athletics are conducted as an integral component of the overall educational experience; with the goal of having student-athletes strive to reach their potential and give their best.
Statement of Philosophy
It is the philosophy of the Somerville High School Athletic Program to place the highest priority on the overall quality of the educational experience and on the successful completion of academic goals
Athletics are offered and encourages as a part of the student-athlete's overall educational experience.
The Department of Athletics will strive to encourage participation by maximizing the number of opportunities in varsity programs in boys' and girls' sport and co-educational intramurals.
Participants in the athletic program receive the same treatment as the general population. Student-athletes do not receive special privileges in admission, advising or grading.
The emphasis of our athletic program is placed on the welfare of the participants, and not on the spectators or the entertainment value of sport.
It is the goal of the Athletic Department to foster the development of sportsmanship, fair play, positive societal values, and physical well -being of all participants.
Somerville High School is a member of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association and competes in the Greater Boston League. Somerville sponsors sports in Football, Golf (Co-ed), Soccer (B & G), Cross Country (B & G), Indoor/Outdoor Track (B & G), Basketball (B & G), Ice Hockey (B & G) , Swimming (Co-ed), Softball (G), Baseball (B), Tennis (B & G), Lacrosse (B & G) and Volleyball (B & G). We also compete in club Crew (B & G) , Ultimate Frisbee (B & G) and Cheerleading (Co-ed).
