WTC's youth winter conditioning and winter track and field program is now open to boys and girls ages 8-14, There are no tryouts or cuts, but the number of participants will be limited to the first 250 who register, on a first-come, first-served basis. Participation by 8-9 year olds will be limited to 25 kids and be limited to Sunday and Tuesday nights only. Tentatively, sessions are held Sunday through Wednesday evenings. A conditioning component will be held in December and track and field in January and February. Parents of 8-9 year olds are expected to offer support on the nights their child attends. Members receive instruction in the 55, 200, 400, 800, mile, hurdles, long jump, shot put, and high jump. Participants choose the events and the meets in which they they wish to compete.
Parents will be asked to volunteer for one support service during the season when you register. After registering, the Club will provide a Sign Up Genius link for parents to finalize their volunteer choice.
Parents will also be asked to select the nights that your child will most likely attend, but you will not be held only to those nights you select - practice schedule is flexible, except for 8-9 year olds.
Sunday sessions will be at 5:00, weekday sessions at 6:30. Sessions will be an hour to an hour and a half.
All sessions are held at the indoor track at the Kennedy Middle School (655 Lexington Street in Waltham) - drive around to the back of the school building and enter through the 2 gray metals doors, marked #9, located to the left of the school's rear entrance glass doors.
