Dear Parents/Guardians of AP Students:
There has been a significant change to the registration and payment timeline for students enrolled in Advanced Placement courses. This new policy, mandated by the College Board, requires students to register for their AP exam(s) using their online AP Classroom account and submit a deposit for the exam by November.
It has always been our expectation that students taking Advanced Placement courses sit for the AP exam in May. Although this is not a requirement, it is an expectation. All of the exams will be administered in school with the cost of each exam being paid by the student.
The 2019-2020 AP Exam fee is $94.00 per exam. In order to be successfully registered for the exam, students need to submit a non-refundable deposit of $40.00 for each exam that they plan to take no later than Monday, November 11, 2019. Should you later decide not to take a particular exam, the $40 deposit will be forfeited. Otherwise, the remaining $54 portion of the AP exam fee will be collected in February, 2020. Payment for the deposit can be submitted via PayPal or by cash or check, payable to NEW HOPE-SOLEBURY SCHOOL DISTRICT. All deposit monies are non-refundable as College Board will charge a $40 fee for cancelled exams.
If you miss the November deadline or decide later you wish to take the exam, the College Board will charge a $40 late fee for each exam on top of the regular fee of $94.
Students requesting testing accommodations must notify the guidance office of such a request by January 17, 2020. After this date, we cannot guarantee a request will be granted by College Board in time for AP testing.
Deposits are due no later than Monday, November 11, 2019.
If you have any questions about this matter, please feel free to contact the guidance office at 215-862-8171.
