REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION:
A student must be declared eligible by the athletic director according to the standards listed in this section before he or she will be allowed to tryout for a team.
All student athletes must be enrolled in health insurance plan in order to participate on an athletic team.
If an athlete does not have health insurance, the athletic director must be notified immediately so arrangements can be made fo coverage during a school sponsored athletic event.
A written statement from a physician stating that he/she can compete in interscholastic activities. The medical statement must certify that the pupil has passed a pre-participation physical examination prior to the beginning of his/her high school career and prior to the beginning of their junior year. Any student significantly ill or injured should be re-examined by a physician in order to be eligible.
Note: Some physicals will expire during the respective season and the athlete will be required to attain an updated physical and drop a copy off to the athletic office or they will not be allowed to participate as of that date.
The physical exam for athletic participation should be done by the student's private physician. A copy of this exam must be submitted to the athletic office prior to the start of the sport season. The sports physical is part of the comprehensive health care received by a student from his/her health care provider. The student's health care provider's familiarity with family history and the student's medical history is important in an assessment for sports participation.
