2018 Spring Athletics

Registration Deadline 03/01/2018
Payment Deadline 06/15/2018

Interscholastic athletics can be a fun, rewarding, and memorable part of the high school experience. While academics offer the primary source for formal education, athletics can contribute to the total value of that education in many different ways. Building upon the concepts of teamwork, fair play, sportsmanship, and self esteem, the athletic experience can help to provide for a well rounded educational experience. Athletic participation is a privilege and not a right. To those who strive to succeed in the classroom comes the privilege to compete outside of it.

Being an athlete, the parent of an athlete, or the coach of an athlete, is often a very challenging experience. Sometimes this relationship can become complicated due to the nature and structure of athletics in general. It is the intent of the AACPS Athletic Handbook to provide some insights as to the roles and responsibilities athletes, parents, coaches, and spectators share, separately and together in the realm of high school athletic participation.

******PLEASE NOTE: A current physical must be on file with the school in order for your child to participate in the Southern High School athletics program. Physicals will be collected by the coaches on the first day of practice or can be uploaded to FamilyID.  Physicals with a date of June 1st, 2017 or after will only be accepted.  If your son or daughter played a fall or winter sport (2017-18), please indicate that by filling in the required field.

Unified Sports Participation Statement

Unified Athletics is all inclusive—all participants are treated equally. Student athletes with IEPs or 504s can be identified as either an athlete or a player, depending on the needs of the team at the current time. Determinations will be made by the coaches for all participants. Please contact Athletic Director Ray Bowen with concerns.

Online registration for this program is currently closed/unavailable. Please contact Southern High School for further information.
