2018-2019 Jewish Learning Lab of Metrowest 5779 (Pre-K - 7th grade)

Registration Deadline 10/15/2018
Payment Deadline 10/15/2018

The Jewish Learning Lab of Metrowest offers an enriching educational experience for children. Mutual respect among students and staff is a priority and nurturing each student's Jewish growth and positive identity is our ultimate goal. The program is sensitive to the unique qualities of each child, and encourages open and collaborative relationships between parents and teachers. Our strong inclusion philosophy provides a rich classroom experience where our teachers' skills in differentiated instruction provide a supportive atmosphere for all. We welcome and encourage parents' involvement in their child's Jewish education, in the classroom and in the wider synagogue community.

Our curriculum is based on a building block model, where each year serves as the foundation for the content of subsequent years. Every year or two, a new subject is added to the curriculum, while subjects already introduced are taught with increasing complexity and depth, at age-appropriate levels. We set out to engage children in discussions of topics that are relevant to them and meaningful to their lives. We strive to help all our children to: develop a strong and proud Jewish identity for themselves, their families and their community; feel comfortable in synagogue and at home as Jews; participate in community service, learning about Mitzvot and Tzedakah through doing; gain a sense of communal worship and familiarity with the blessings, prayers, and songs included in worship services; learn to read and write Hebrew through the study of siddur (prayer book) Hebrew, and become comfortable with a basic spoken vocabulary of modern, Hebrew words; learn and acquire the skills necessary to become a Bar or Bat Mitzvah; develop and understanding of Jewish values and traditions within a Conservative framework; learn the history of the Jewish people, relevant to their contemporary lives; gain an understanding of the centrality of ethical behavior to a Jewish life; develop a relationship with Israel (both Eretz Yisrael and the modern State of Israel); identify with and relate to the global Jewish community.
