2018-2019 Fall Athletic Registration

Practices for fall sports start on Monday, August 13, 2018 the sports included are: Cross Country, Football, Soccer, Volleyball, Cheer & Dance

All athletes MUST be cleared before attending their first practice/tryout. All school and athletic fees (past and present) must be paid and the online registration process completed in order to be approved.  Each coach will be updated with a list of all athletes who have completed the paperwork:  Current physical on file, paid user fee and registered with FamilyID.  If this is not completed athlete is not eligible to practice or try-out until the process is completed.

Please make sure as you are completing this information that you include your Student ID number.  (If you do not have a Student ID #, just put something in the space and you can come back and add your student number later).

To participate in CHS sports, each athlete must go through a clearance process in every season, for every sport. No athlete will be allowed to participate until all the information is completed on-line.

Academic Eligibility--
Students who plan to be in athletics must have passed five credits in the prior semester with a minimum of 2.0 GPA and no “Fs", and must also be passing five credit classes (study hall does not count as a credit). 

OSAA (Oregon School Activities Association) eligibility policy requires that all athletes (excluding incoming freshmen) must pass at least five (5) credit classes spring semester or take summer school make-up classes in order to be eligible for fall or winter sports. OSAA RULE: ALL STUDENTS MUST BE ON TRACK TO GRADUATE BY HAVING COMPLETED 4.5 CREDITS--PRIOR TO 10TH GRADE, 10 CREDITS PRIOR TO 11TH GRADE AND 17 CREDITS PRIOR TO 12TH GRADE. 24 CREDITS ARE REQUIRED FOR GRADUATION FROM CHS.

The North Clackamas School District Board of Directors has implemented more stringent eligibility rules for athletics and activities. These requirements are in addition to standards implemented by the Oregon Schools Activities Association (OSAA), the state agency governing athletics and activities. In addition, North Clackamas School District requires a 2.0-grade point average, with no grade of an "F" on the report card. Students who do not meet the additional District requirements may become eligible to participate by:

  • Transferring credits from an accredited summer or night school institution in order to correct a grade deficit
  • Appealing his/her ineligibility status by completing an Activity Eligibility Appeal Request with the building Principal
  • Spending one semester on academic probation ("plan of assistance" in lieu of losing eligibility). Academic probation lasts through the athletic/activities season during the semester of participation. (NOTE: Students who have fallen below a 2.0 G.P.A. may not exceed two consecutive semesters on academic probation). Students will be expected to participate in a 90-minute study hall with the understanding that they will work to bring their grade up to the North Clackamas School District standards. If your student is not enrolled in a study hall your student will need to make arrangements with the Athletic Director to plan an appropriate option. This report is due every Wednesday by 3 p.m. in the athletic office. If the student fails to turn in the signed tutorial report they could be suspended for one game/meet/match.

Physicals, Emergencies, Insurance

PHYSICAL REQUIRED EVERY TWO YEARS ON ATHLETIC PARTICIPATION SPORTS PHYSICALS
All participants must have on file:
1) a physical, needed in 9th & 11th Grade or first time trying out or participating on a team

This must be completed prior to any participation in athletics, including practices/tryouts. Participants must present evidence of either private or school medical insurance.

If you are new to Clackamas you will have to provide a copy of a physical or complete a physical.

Attendance
Participants must be in attendance one-half day (two-block periods) in order to practice or play in a contest. Exceptions must be cleared through the athletic director.

PARTICIPANT RESPONSIBILITIES
Dual Participation
If you are a Dual Participating athlete, you must complete a form. The form may be obtained from the athletic office. A student may participate in more than one athletic team during one season. Students may change activities only with the approval of both coaches, and/or advisors, and athletic director.

Equipment
Each participant is responsible for the equipment issued to him/her. At the completion of the season, the participant must return the equipment in good condition or pay the replacement cost of the item(s) lost or damaged.

Awards
Athletic awards (certificates) will be presented at the end of the season to deserving participants as determined by the coach or advisor. No award will be given to those not completing the season. One letter is given to those students at the varsity level in their 4-year career.

FEE
OSAA/NC-12 Funded Fall Sports
Fall Sports include: Football, Volleyball & Soccer
The charge is $175 per sport or activity, to a maximum of $425 per student, and $700 per family for those that are participating in district funded sports. (waived for free and reduced lunch students in district funded sports). Non-funded sports set their own fees.

OSAA/NC-12 Non-Funded Fall Sports
Cross Country
Non-Funded Sports do not apply to a family's maximum and fees are not waived for free and reduced lunch students. Students may apply for up to $100.00 for an athletic waiver through the athletic office (This is only for students who qualify for Free and Reduced Lunch). A form may be picked up in the athletic office.

TRANSFERS
Approval of conditional admission does not imply your child can participate in OSAA athletics, due to additional state regulations. If your child intends to participate in athletics, a meeting with the attending school district athletic director is required prior to your child's participation at practice, games, or events. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND THE OSAA TRANSFER RULES, SO THAT YOU DO NOT JEOPARDIZE YOUR CHILD'S ELIGIBILITY.  The forms for a transfer must be done prior to try-outs.  Please go by the Athletic Director's office to obtain the forms and meet with the Athletic Director.
