Prior to the first practice for participation in athletics a student shall undergo a thorough medical examination and be approved for athletic participation. The examination must be performed by a person licensed to perform such physical examinations (Medical Doctor MD;Doctor of Osteopathy DO; Certified Registered Nurse ARNP; Physician's Assistant PR, and Naturopathic Physician). The physical examination shall be valid for 24 consecutive months from date of issue.
**NOTE: The Mead School District REQUIRES ALL 9th graders TO OBTAIN A CURRENT PHYSICAL DUE TO THE INTENSITY OF HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS (PRIOR TO THEIR FIRST PRACTICE and after JUNE 1st).
Sports Physicals are then good for two years, after their freshman year, from date of exam.
The physical must include (WIAA Rule 18.13.0), but is not limited to, a detailed review of the student's medical history, with special emphasis on cardiovascular/pulmonary risks and/or previous significant injury; documentation of cardiopulmonary and sport-specific orthopedic screening examinations; and a written statement as to the fitness of the student to undertake the proposed athletic participation.
Students will need to pay for their ASB/GSL Fee ($45) and designated athletic fee ($40), after making the team, in August for the following school year. *Fees are to be paid in August for Cheer / JV Cheer & Dance Try-Outs*
