The mission of the Academy Charter School interscholastic athletic program is to foster the quest for excellence by creating an educational and competitive experience within an atmosphere of sportsmanship.
The Academy Athletics strives to develop the whole student through athletic participation. We focus on creating opportunities for scholar-athletes to improve their skills through athletic engagement, peer interaction, and competition. While winning is not an end in itself, we believe that our scholar-athletes’ efforts to be their best will lead them to succeed. Individuals associated with the Academy Athletics (coaches, staff, student-athletes, alumni, and parents) will value character traits developed through athletic participation.
The central goal of the athletic program is to foster specific characteristics and qualities to produce a well-rounded scholar-athlete. These include respect for self and others, honesty, integrity, commitment, reliability, common sense and perseverance. The values learned through the athletic experience will help individuals become more productive members of the community (Lead, Learn & Serve).
We invite all scholars to take part in as many athletic programs as possible. Participation in athletics at the Academy is a privilege and not a right, and each participant earns that privilege through his or her adherence to the rules and policies set forth by the school district and athletic office.
