Saddle River Day Athletic Registration

Rebel Athletic Program

At Saddle River Day School, we believe athletics are an integral part of the SRDS experience. We strive to provide a safe environment that promotes achievement, fair play, integrity, sportsmanship and overall health and fitness. We believe the values taught through participation in athletics are an extension of those taught in an academic classroom at SRDS… developing a strong work ethic, working as a member of a team, respect for leadership and peers, self-discipline, commitment, loyalty, perseverance, communication, accountability, conflict-resolution and pride in accomplishments are all life skills that a strong athletic program enhances. All of these values directly relate and reinforce the goals and mission of the School and of the direction for which we hope to establish our students to learn and adopt. All of our athletic teams currently compete under the Constitution of the State governing body (NJSIAA), and under the rules and regulations of the New Jersey Interscholastic Conference (NJIC) League.

SRDS Athletic Programs are nonthreatening and encourage every student to participate and succeed. Our goals include building a culture of concern and mutual support among students and staff. The importance of social values—caring for others, treating others with respect, affirming diversity, and being a responsible member of a group—are clearly stated, recognized, and modeled by all coaches and staff. Our athletic department clearly demonstrates its commitment to the rights and fair treatment of all people regardless of race, gender or religion. Our mission includes a dedication to diversity and a department that is fully inclusive. With a balanced approach of building competitive teams and of teaching life skills through sports, we also intend to promote a passion for life long physical fitness and wellness.

SRDS Athletics offers our student-athletes the privilege and responsibility to represent the School, the student body, the sport, their team, and the greater community to the best of their abilities and with the utmost respect. Any student who participates in school-sponsored athletics or activities must agree to abide by the Board Policies, State and League Administration Rules, the SRDS Student Code of Conduct, and individual team training/playing rules and regulations. All students who participate in athletics are expected to be positive role models for other students and members of the community.

With safety being our number one concern and working within the guidelines and requirements of the State of New Jersey, All SRD student-athletes must complete the Athletic Registration Process for each athletic season 30 DAYS prior to participation.
