The North Reading Public School Department is pleased to announce the continuation of bus transportation for eligible students in grades Kindergarten through grade 12 at all schools in the District. We will once again be starting the bus application process earlier than in previous years and are now officially accepting bus applications for the 2020-21 school year. To streamline and make this process easier for all, we have automated the bus application process and will be using Family ID as our bus application and registration process for the 2020-21 school year.
Please note a separate application must be submitted for each child. Every student in grades K-12 who needs to ride the bus to/from any of the North Reading Public Schools MUST be registered, even if they receive free transportation due to distance (greater than 2 miles K-6 only) or are deemed eligible for free/reduced lunch through the application or direct certification process.
Please read the program information below and complete the attached application for the 2020-2021 academic year. Applications and full payment are due by Friday, June 5, 2020. There will be a $50 late fee assessed for those who submit bus applications after the June 5, 2020 deadline. There will be no exceptions granted to this late fee, so please meet the June 5th deadline.
- Bus stops and routes will be updated throughout the summer and will be finalized between mid to late August and posted on the District website.
- Bus routes will also be published in the North Reading Transcript on or about the last week in August.
- Bus routes are subject to change at any time.
Students are expected to follow all bus rules and parents should review the bus rules with their children. Bus FAQ’s and bus rules and regulations can also be found on the District website.
Students must be prepared to display their pass daily. Students not displaying a pass will be reported to the Principal. Only non-refundable, annual passes are sold because full year commitments must be made to the bus company and we need to know the number of riders before the year begins. Passes are non-transferable and there is a $15 replacement fee for all lost bus passes.
