Housatonic has a long, storied tradition of athletic success. Whether it’s Steve Blass winning the 1971 World Series with the Pittsburgh Pirates or Candy Perotti’s work in the White House, the athletic program at Housatonic fosters success in the classroom, on the playing field, and in students’ careers. Housatonic’s athletic program boasts one of the highest participation rates in the state of Connecticut; approximately 70% of our students participate in at least one sport during the academic year. Moreover, Housatonic’s comprehensive athletic offerings allow our students to compete in a variety of interscholastic competitions.
Housatonic, which is a member of the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC), offers 22 varsity sports that compete in Berkshire League, Pequot League (football), and the Berkshire-Hudson Ski League (alpine skiing). In addition to our varsity sports, we offer numerous opportunities at the junior varsity level. At Housatonic, we believe that athletics are an extension of the classroom where meaningful lessons are taught by our coaches and learned by our student-athletes as the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and competition are an integral part of our athletic program.
